How long do tours last? How far?

1 hour & 15 minutes. Tours are 1 mile. The exact timing will depend on the excitement level of your guide.

Where does the tour go?

Anywhere your heart desires. Just kidding. Tours traverse Main & McKean St. & may go inside for about 10 minutes.

Where can I park?

The city offers free 2-hour parking on Main Street! Please do not park against yellow curbs or in handicapped spots. There are also two parking garages located nearby.

When should I arrive?

Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled tour time so you can find our location and check in.

We leave the Diamond at the times listed on the website.

What if it rains?

Even though the city won't look as pretty, the show must go on. We tour rain or shine, unless weather is dangerous.

Is there a little lion's room nearby?

Businesses would rather you not use theirs unless you're a paying customer. Please use the restroom before you arrive.

Can we do a private group tour?

Yes. We offer private group tours. Email us at least 2 weeks ahead of time so we can reserve a time slot for your group. 

What is the limit per tour group?

We like to limit tours to 10 people so everyone feels involved and can have a valuable experience.   

Is this for tourists?

Of course! But even locals who have lived here for years are sure to learn something new about their city.

Mean Lion Tours takes guests on a journey through the city of Butler, Pennsylvania. Each narrated tour begins and ends in historic Diamond Park. Butler County Historical Society

The Butler County Historical Society operates the Walter Lowrie-Shaw House Museum, the Little Red Schoolhouse Museum, and Cooper Cabin in Cabot. The Society helps keep Butler's history preserved. Tours of the Shaw House and Red Schoolhouse are available by appointment. A membership with the Historical Society means continued funding for the preservation of important historical landmarks and artifacts!
